Q1.
How many photos can I store on Photo Book?
Photo Book has 4 GB built-in Internal Memory. Using images with
a resolution of 1024 x 768 (average file size under 150KB), you
can store more than 25,000 images on Internal Memory.
Q2. What types of memory cards are supported?
Supported memory cards include CF, SD, SDHC, MMC, xD-Picture Card,
Memory Stick, and MSPRO.
Q3. Does Photo Book
have a USB port for reading from a digital camera or from a flash
drive?
The USB port on Photo Book supports USB flash drive with the included
USB-OTG cable. It does not connect directly to a digital camera.
Q4. I have photos stored
on my computer. How do I go about displaying those photos on Photo
Book?
You can connect Photo Book to your computer via USB and copy your
photos from your computer onto the Internal Memory of Photo Book.
Q5.
What is the optimal resolution of photos to be played back on Photo
Book?
The recommended resolution for the images is the actual screen resolution
of Photo Book, which is 800x600 (SVGA) resolution. Please note that
images of higher resolution will be automatically resized for display
according to the screen resolution. By resizing image that have
a higher resolution than the screen resolution, you will create
smaller file sizes and will be able to store more photos in on the
Internal Memory.
Alternatively, the zoom feature will provide sharper looking zoomed
images on higher resolution photos.
Q6. What is the aspect
ratio of the screen? If I have photos with 3:2 or 16:9 aspect ratios,
how will they be displayed on the device?
The aspect ratio on Photo Book is 4:3. If you have photos in a 3:2
or 16:9 aspect ratio, the photo will be displayed in a letterbox
with black bars on top and bottom of the screen in the default view
mode. There will be no rescaling or distortion of your photos.
Q7.
Can I adjust the screen brightness on Photo Book?
Yes, you can adjust screen brightness under Setup.
Q8. How can I adjust
the slideshow interval?
You can change the slideshow interval during a slideshow on-the-fly
by pressing the UP/DOWN buttons. The slideshow can be changed from
1 second to up to 60 seconds.
Q9. How can I scroll
through the photos manually?
During a photo slideshow or in the full-screen view, press RIGHT/LEFT
to go to the NEXT/PREVIOUS photo.
Q10. Can
I rotate photos on Photo Book? How does Photo Book handle photos
shot in portrait?
Photos on Photo Book will be displayed according to the photo orientation
information available in the EXIF data captured with the photo.
Most digital SLR cameras will have this photo orientation information.
Photos taken in portrait orientation will be automatically rotated
when it is displayed on Image Moments. If the digital camera does
not capture this information with the photo, the photo will be displayed
in its original orientation.
You can also manually rotate the photo on the screen. When you view
a photo full screen in manual mode, you can press OK to rotate the
picture by 90 degrees. Note that the rotated image will return to
its original orientation the next time you view it. To retain the
orientation settings for the pictures, you can rotate the images
in your computer and copy the edited images onto the Photo Book.
Note that the rotate function will not work in Photo Book Slideshow
or Full-Screen Slideshow mode.
Q11. Can I play music
in the background while viewing photo slideshow?
To play music along with your photos slideshow,
copy your music (MP3, WMA, or AAC) files to the Photo Book Internal
Memory (or memory card).
All available music files in the root location of the memory source
will play in random order in the background when you are in Album
View and when there is no music file in the selected album.
Associate theme music with specific albums by copying music files
into the respective folders. Music files located in a specific
album will play with that album when selected for viewing –
in Thumbnail View and Slideshow Show Mode. This feature lets you
associate theme music with specific Albums
Q12.
Is there any sort of "shuffle mode" to randomize the
order of photo playback?
No, Photo Book does not have a shuffle mode. Photos will be played
in alphabetical order.
Q13.
Besides displaying photos on full screen, what other functions
does Photo Book have?
Photo Book lets you organize your photos into different albums
and choose a specific album to view. The “Photo
Album View” displays each folder as a separate
photo album, showing its folder name and a preview image of the
first photo in the album. “Photo Thumbnail View”
lets you browse through the thumbnails of the photos in a selected
photo album. In addition to running a full screen photo slideshow
with adjustable time intervals, you also have the option of running
the slideshow with an elegant page-turning effect, just like you
were flipping through an actual photo album.
Q14.
What image, music, and video formats are supported?
Image formats: JPEG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, RAW ( to see supported RAW format)
Music formats: MP3, AAC, WMA
Video formats: MPEG-1,MJPEG, MPEG-4 SP
Q15.
Photo Book will not recognize my memory card.
Check to see that your memory card is inserted in the correct
slot and in the correct orientation.
Q16.
I have photos and videos on the Internal Memory, but they do not
show up on Photo Book.
In the previous firmware version v1.0.4, you need to make sure
your photo and videos files are copied into the PHOTO folder on
the Photo Book Internal Memory. Please update the fimrware to
v1.0.5 to avoid this issue.
Check to see if your photos and video files are of supported format.
Files with unsupported file format will not be displayed.
Q17.
I checked my photos to be in JPEG format, but they still do not
show up on Photo Book.
Make sure your JPEG images are in “Baseline Standard”
format. Photo Book supports Baseline JPEGs, and it does not support
Progressive JPEGs.
You may use an imaging software such as Photoshop to check this:
When saving images in Photoshop: Click Save As, and Click OK.
You will open the JPEG Options Dialogue Box. Next, choose Baseline
(“Standard”) from the Format Options sections and
click OK.
Q18.
I have music files on the Internal Memory and/or memory cards,
but I can’t get them to play along with my photo slideshow.
In the previous firmware version v1.0.4, you need to make sure
your music files are copied into the MUSIC folder on the Photo
Book Internal Memory. Please update the fimrware to v1.0.5 to
avoid this issue.
Q19.
I have both photos and video files in a photo album, but the videos
files are skipped in the slideshow.
Video files will be skipped in a photo slideshow. They can only
be played one by one.
Q20.
How can I reset my Photo Book if it freezes?
In the case that Photo Book encounters an error and freezes, you
can reset it by press the Reset button, locate in the pinhole
at the bottom of Photo Book, with a paper clip or similar pointy
object.
Q21.
After copying music files to my Photo Book, the device freezes
and the only way I can get it to work again is to press the Reset
Button.
With firmware version 1.0.5 and before, music files with the extension
.M4A downloaded from iTunes would cause the device to freeze.
To fix this problem, delete the music files from your Photo Book,
download and update firmware version 1.0.7 on your Photo Book.
After the firmware update, you will be able to play the .M4A music
files downloaded from iTunes. (Note that iTunes music files with
the extension .M4P are DRM protected and can only play on iTunes
and iPod devices.).
Q22.
When I turn on the device, the volume setting is always the default
volume level of 50%. It doesn't remember the volume setting that
I used before the last time that I turned off my Photo Book.
With firmware version 1.0.5 and before, the volume setting would
always go back to the default volume level of 50%. With firmware
version 1.0.7, the volume management setting is changed so that
the device will remember the volume setting when the device is
turned off and apply the same volume setting the next time the
device is turned on.
