Q2. Can DataPocket run without external power?
Q3. My computer only has USB 1.1 ports available. Can DataPocket still be connected?
Q4. How does the DataPocket Smart Backup feature work?
Q1. Do I need to install device driver before I can connect DataPocket to my computer?

•  The DataPocket hard drive comes pre-formatted and ready to use right out of the box. There is no device driver installation required for computer running on any of the following operating systems:

Windows XP Home/Pro, ME, 2000
Macintosh OS 9.x and 10.0.x and higher
Linux OS kernel versions 2.4.x and higher

•  Simply connect DataPocket to your computer using the included USB cable. Once connected, DataPocket will show up as a removable hard drive, and you can use it just as you would use your computer’s internal hard drive. You are now ready to start using DataPocket as an external hard drive to back up your computer.

•  For Windows 98/SE, you need to first install device driver from the Resource Disc before the computer can recognize DataPocket.

Q2. Can DataPocket run without external power?

• Yes, DataPocket is powered via your computer USB port and does not require external power under most circumstances. This makes it extremely convenient to carry DataPocket with you for backup while you are traveling.

•  For some computer configurations, the USB port may not be able to provide sufficient power for DataPocket to function properly. In these cases, simply plug in the extra USB power plug of the included USB cable to a second USB port on your computer (or a powered USB hub). Or, you can use a compatible external power adapter (DC 5V/2.0A) to supply more power.

Q3. My computer only has USB 1.1 ports available. Can DataPocket still be connected?

• Yes, DataPocket is backward compatible with USB 1.1.

Q4. How does the DataPocket Smart Backup feature work?

• The Smart Backup software lets you set up different backup tasks. Then, by connecting DataPocket to your computer and pressing the Smart Backup Button, the active backup tasks will automatically run.

• It is especially convenient for backing up your important files on a regular basis. You can configure your backup tasks so that only files that have been updated since the last backup will be copied. This will save you lots of time during the backup.

• In addition, the Smart Backup software lets you easily change task orientation to restore files from DataPocket to your computer, or to synchronize files between DataPocket and your computer.

* Please note that Smart Backup software works for Windows OS only.
